eyelash extension aftercare
The eyelash cycle is approximately four to eight weeks. Retention will vary based on your natural lash cycle. Do not be alarmed if some of your lashes fall out quickly (they most likely were at the end of their cycle). The average eyelid has anywhere between 90-150 natural lashes per eye, however some clients may have as little as 50, all the way up to 200 lashes per eye. It is normal to shed 2-5 lashes per eye, per day. The majority of extensions can stay through a complete cycle if you follow these guidelines:

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

Please try your best to avoid getting your eyelash extensions wet for approximately 12-24 hours. Once you have left the salon, the medical-grade adhesive used to adhere your extensions will have cured 90%. However, over the next 24 hours the adhesive will continue to cure in full. In this time please keep showers short and avoid saturating the lashes.

Avoid any products, including eye makeup, with oils, glycol or glycerin as these ingredients may cause the bond of the adhesive to break down.
It is not recommended to use regular or waterproof mascara with your extensions. Both types of mascara contain oils and chemicals that break down the adhesive. If you feel you need to further enhance your extensions, please see us for extension-safe mascara options. However, removing mascara from your lashes can cause your extensions to come out prematurely.
Never use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions as it can permanently damage the extensions and your natural lashes.

It is recommended to avoid sleeping on your stomach and side, as this can cause your lashes to shed faster.

CLEANSING:

It is crucial to cleanse your extensions daily with an extension-safe cleanser (one containing no oils, glycol or glycerin). Even if you do not wear make-up, daily pollution, dirt and oils will build up in the lash line. Take special care around the eye area when cleansing your face.
Gently cleanse the eye area with a clean makeup brush or the pads of your fingers, focusing on the lash line and lid area in particular. Sweep gently towards the ends of the lashes with clean fingers and rinse with clean water.
It is also important to brush your lashes daily with the mascara wands provided to you, specifically after waking up. Water on the lashes may cause them to stick together. Wait until your extensions are dry after showering or swimming before brushing.
RETENTION:
Please avoid extreme variations of hot and cold (hot showers, saunas, zero degree weather). Be very cautious when opening hot ovens or barbeques, using lighters or smoking as the heat/flames may singe your lashes, resulting in your eyelash extensions needing to be removed.

We recommend applying our special coating sealant, which is available for sale at our shop, to help maintain your eyelash extensions longer. This coating sealant is great for vacations and daily wear.

Be sure to schedule a lash fill appointment every 2 to 3 weeks. This will keep your lashes looking clean, full and natural indefinitely. If you have less than 25% of your extensions remaining, a new set will be required.
If you are having any issues with retention, please contact us immediately to schedule a touch-up appointment. Complimentary touch ups will be done within the first 3 days of your appointment in the event you are experiencing issues.
If you are already booked in for a fill and suspect you may need a longer fill time, please let us know as soon as possible to ensure the appropriate amount of time needed to fill your lashes.
Please contact us with any questions you may have. Enjoy your new lashes!
